Millennium Fellowship Project: Skin Bleaching
Although most people are passive about their skin Health, it is actually a very important part of of well being generally. Asides from being a great source of infection, through which microbes can enter the body and cause a full fledge infection which can lead to death, it serves as an important site for vitamin D metabolism. Creams and substances we apply in our skin can alter the normal composition of the skin leading to malformations of the normal vitamin D metabolism pathways and Vitamin D has a role to play in bone formation, teeth formation and so on, hence indirectly, application of wrong substances can affect our bones and teeth formation leading to defects like scurvy, osteomalacia and tickets. The public has to aware of the adverse effect of just using any substances for their skin, they need to know which products are harmful or good for the skin. This project is to enlighten the community about their skin Health generally.
