Millennium Fellowship Project: Indri.yeah
Indri.yeah confronts a stark reality in India - a profound shortage of Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpreters in the face of a staggering 63 million deaf and mute individuals. To address this critical issue, we've embarked on a journey marked by innovation and empathy.
Our first crucial step is harnessing the power of generative techniques to enable seamless communication through speech-to-ISL conversion. But our vision extends beyond this initial step; we're committed to expanding into ISL-to-speech conversion in the future. We've diligently engaged stakeholders at every turn. We've listened to the experiences and needs of the hearing-impaired individuals themselves, educators and interpreters working with them, accessibility advocates championing equal opportunities, and compliance seekers ensuring adherence to accessibility standards.
Our resounding conclusion is this - there's an undeniable need for real-time communication solutions that bridge the gap between the hearing-impaired and the rest of the world. Through Indri.yeah, we aspire to do just that, not only enhancing the lives of the hearing-impaired but also catalyzing transformation in industries like F&B, video-conferencing, news broadcasting, etc. Indri.yeah isn't just another business idea; it's a bold endeavor to make communication a universal right, accessible to everyone, everywhere.
