Millennium Fellowship Project: Sumak

This project is about gender equality, specifically about female empowerment for girls and young women in Peru. We believe that by raising awareness of women's
fundamental rights and recognizing equality between men and women we can have a better society. We focus on different topics: Exclusive opportunities for women, the dissemination of calls for projects, jobs, volunteers, free courses where women can develop professionally. Focus on self-love: we share messages of self-esteem, self-love, as well as highlighting the importance of always putting ourselves first. Awareness of gender violence: we raise awareness about the violence figures in
Peru, the help phone numbers, the cases of femicides that occur, how to detect different forms of violence, among others.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ana Paula Guillen Yangali is a law student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, currently in her fourth semester. She is passionate about developing social projects with the purpose of raising awareness among others and helping to solve the problems that affect her country, Peru. As a Millennium Fellowship, her purpose is to work for gender equality, to help young women recognize their rights, empower them, and highlight the importance of self-love. In the future, she aspires to create her own NGO that helps close the gap of social inequality and after graduating, pursue a master's degree in gender issues internationally.
