Millennium Fellowship Project: Infraespacio: urbanism for non-urbanists

Infraespacio is a platform made up of students from various universities and faculties that seek to bring elements of urban theory closer to citizens and thereby reinforce the civic values of coexistence and the right to the city through interdisciplinary research.
We started with the objective of making information related to urban planning, landscape, art and inclusion more friendly to those people who are not familiar with the content of the Architecture degree and, nevertheless, have an impact on the life of each citizen.
We consider that one of the key factors for the construction of citizenship is the way of inhabiting and understanding cities, through accessible information and reinforcement of values of responsibility regarding the perceived and lived space. In the first stage of this project, we disseminated information through the Instagram social network
(https://www.instagram.com/infraespacio/), the main means of public advocacy. We have made publications about different types of urban problems, such as spatial segregation, the construction of infrastructures that damage public spaces, and we have also questioned some projects built by municipal governments to provide clear and precise information about the latent risk to which they are exposed. Our cities are exposed.
With the passing of time, we consider it necessary to enter a second key moment in our growth process as an information platform and, therefore, we have how to carry out workshops with various sectors of the target population. These seek to be trainings adapted to each specific group based on their needs and abilities. All of them are framed in the thematic axes that guide the work of the platform: Public space and citizenship; Housing and personal space; Sustainability, environment and landscape; Heritage, history and memory; Art and Aesthetics; Inclusion and accessibility. These, in turn, are based on the concept of the right to the city, as the right to inhabit quality public spaces
