Millennium Fellowship Project: Reducing Pace University's Carbon Footprint

My project is creating an energy competition between the residents living in Pace's Residence Hall, 33 Beekman. I convinced the energy department to install submeters on each floor of 33 Beekman, which will track the energy usage of the residents on each floor. Students will be informed about the competition through staff and social media. The floor who wins the competition every month will receive some extra points toward picking their housing for the next year.

The goal of the project is to get residents to be more cognisant of their energy usage and reduce their consumption. I also hope to build community on each floor and hope the residents will become friendlier with one another. I spent this semester building the project and gaining financial funds and connections to make the project possible. The project will be implemented next semester and if successfully reduces energy consumption, then the program will be implemented each year in all of the Pace residence halls.
