Millennium Fellowship Project: Educaste

EduCaste is a student-led initiative dedicated to advancing educational equity for marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu. Our mission revolves around the belief that education catalyzes breaking the cycle of discrimination within Indian society, fostering unity, and promoting a more equitable world. Our initiatives align seamlessly with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on SDGs 4 and 16. This global objective seeks to cultivate societies conducive to sustainable development, ensure access to justice for all, and nurture effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions across all societal levels.

About the Millennium Fellow

Neha Shanmitha, a passionate and hard-working individual, is a Computer Science major at SSN college of engineering in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Neha has always been marvelled by the boundless innovations in technology and the impact it has had in our lives. She hopes to be an elemental part of a bright future where innovation is accessible to all members of the society.

Neha has participated in mass tree planting sessions. She is passionate about educating people on garbology and sustainable development. She has also studied and submitted a report on adolescent health and societal expectations as a part of a course offered by the University of Cambridge.

Neha is deeply committed to the social causes of education and equality. “The wealth of a country is in its working people” said Theodor Herzl. Through her various endeavors, Neha hopes to empower people with the privilege and opportunity to build the future they want and construct a society that can inspire a million others.
