Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridges Not Borders

Bridges not Borders aims to build bridges between immigrant women and the local community and institutions in which they are now building their lives. Immigrant women in France are often extremely isolated because of language barriers, cultural traditions and educational disparities. These factors also influence the prejudices associated with immigrant women and harm not only their long-term sustainable integration in the local community but also their mental health and individual wellbeing. We founded this initiative to take a multifaceted approach corresponding to UNSDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), 5 (Gender Equality) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by increasing financial literacy, access to knowledge about administrative procedures and healthcare, and simultaneously tackling isolation by nurturing a community of support and understanding, not only amongst immigrant women but also between them and the local population.
