Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health Awareness Project
I have created a club where members meet, discuss and share ideas and experiences in the institution. This came about as there were several reported cases of dropouts due to mental health issues. Some students end up being depressed and introverts due to the bulk of tasks at school. Some, is because of family backgrounds and issues at home. They initially had no one to talk to. Now they are able to share with people going through the same challenges and atleast we've seen some progress. We also recently implemented peer learning models and mentorship to help easy the bulk of assignments and projects.I'm hoping to onboard over 200 members by end of June. We currently have 50 plus active members, some of who are staff at the institution.
About the Millennium Fellow
Peter Lokong is a 24 years old Bachelors of Technology in Communication and Computer Networks student at the Technical University of Kenya who is always passionate about addressing global challenges and believes in the power of youth to make a difference. His passions and interests are majorly on Sustainable Development, Youth Empowerment and Good Health.
He has co-founded a student led organization called "Voice of Strength" that advocates for care and love for the marginalized, orphans and the aged. He has also organized for seminars on youth leadership and empowerment, featuring guest speakers from various fields, to inspire other young individuals to take action in their communities.
His main goals in the Millennium Fellowship is to Collaborate with like-minded individuals, Learn, Implement knowledge and ideas as well as Advocate about critical global issues.
