Millennium Fellowship Project: Project PrismParity

PrismParity is a global initiative advocating for equality of the gender and sexual minorities (GSM), operating under the 5th Sustainable Development Goal of Gender Equality, and in collaboration with UNAI 6: Human Rights. It is dedicated towards bridging the gap between the GSM community and their access to freedom of opinion, speech, and opportunity in the local and the larger picture. PrismParity functions as a hybrid global project, collaborating with students and NGOs to operate in two main facets: Volumes and Voices. Under its first facet, the project aims to host donation drives facilitated through its online networks and collaborating institutions, aimed at securing effective donations for an NGO working for the welfare of the GSM communities. Under its second facet, the project will diversify into dynamic speaker sessions and sensitization seminars and workshops, giving a platform for people from within the community to let their lived experiences be heard and in that process, help build a safe space for more members to partake and find their voices.

About the Millennium Fellow

Amrita Behura is a senior economics and mathematics student at the Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. Amrita is passionate about institutionalizing diversity, inclusivity, and equity (DEI) through high impact projects and actionable policy building. As a member of the GSM community herself, she recognizes the intricacies of the intentional socialization and subjugation of the community and aims to counter that through her project. After she graduates, Amrita plans to earn a master's degree in public policy and a diploma in gender studies, working towards subverting the targeted oppression of gender and sexual minorities through solid economic policymaking.
