" My desire is to do something for the society and I think every small step taken by a single individual can also make a big change. Having served in NGOs, I got to know people from all walks of life, I realised that some people are deprived from food even the basic nutririon and this is when I started out with the project 'Food for foody'. I believe "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted". Being a Millennium Fellow, I am determined to make the idea of this project come into reality. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Food for Foody

Food for foody is a project where all food from restaurants and hotels will be collected which is hygenic but in excess for the company and then will be provided to people who are in need of food. So, that is why food + needy = foody. Also, sessions on food nutrition would be taken for children and their parents so that they could understand the amount of proteins, nutrients etc. which are needed by a person. One of the reasons for the project to be successful is also due to the help of some NGOs where the community they are helping could receive food. In the project, a lot of surveys and research are also conducted to answer questions like what the restaurants do with the leftover food or why some people to whom food is offered, refuse it (mainly because of a thinking like the food might be rotten and that's why it is given out). Also, in future, the project aims to host a food event like book mela or job mela is there, in same way food mela will be for the people who are in need of food. This whole project will also result in less wastage of food by restos or cafes etc.
