Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Antraat
Project Antraat is a revival of traditional handicrafts, blending cultural heritage with modern day items of utility made from upcycled fabrics and other discarded waste materialls. In so doing, Antraat serves the twin goals of cultural-environmental sustainability and the financial empowerment of socioeconomically disadvantaged groups.
About the Millennium Fellow
Mrityunjaya Thakur, a student of Economics at Hindu College - situated in the heart of the North Campus of the University of Delhi - embodies a unique blend of social pursuits and artistic fervour. Recognising that heritage often gets overshadowed by the bustling pace of metropolitan life, his commitment to the revival of traditional arts is not merely an endeavour, but a heartfelt mission to resurrect the fading echoes of socially and environmentally conscious manufacturing.
Undertaking multiple social initiatives that hold the power to engage marginalised communities by leveraging their traditional skills, Mrityunjaya deftly weaves together his understanding of economics, his innate creative talents, and insights garnered from his lived experiences and identities. Post graduation, he envisions extending this impactful journey through vocations blending product management and social impact consulting.
