Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Ikhtiyaar

Project Ikhtiyaar is a blend of multiple goals around menstruation. The project aims at educating people around about the importance of menstrual health and switching to economical and sustainable options to deal with menstruation. It also aims to create an impact in the area of waste management, from creating awareness about waste segregation to be able to see active results about the same.
For the timeframe of the fellowship, project aims at impacting two main areas:
1) Creating awareness about the phenomenon, menstrual health, making menstrual products accessible and breaking taboos around it in the slums around campus area. Further hopes to create an impact in proper waste management of sanitary waste, as a sustainable solution.
2) Secondly it aims at educating the already aware youth at campus to switch to an alternate, more sustainable approach. It aims to reduce the wasteful consumption especially of menstrual products like menstrual pads which are non biodegradable, and switching to alternate products which are economical (better consumption) and environment friendly (sustainable).
