Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Tawwaqo

Project Tawwaqo is a student led project wherein we work with the Afghan women diaspora staying at Jangpura. A lot of these families have lost their adult male members on account of the war, and are led by the women, who often struggle to provide for their family.
Tawwaqo means HOPE in Urdu. Our project is helping these women attain financial autonomy and realize a greater amount of equity in this foreign land. Through Project Tawwaqo, these women receive a platform to showcase their skill set and cater to a larger audience as well as earn their livelihood.
Our team, which involves a group of women from LSR, DU have been closely working with the community, procuring raw materials for them, strategizing their business and setting up avenues for marketing their handmade crochet products.
