Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthy animal, healthy nation
My project topic titled "Raising farm animals appropriately" is keen on enlightening the society, especially young individuals who are farmers about the dangers of raising and nurturing farm animals, without proper information, sanitation and overall knowhow.
Farm animals, when not raised under good condition which includes housing, feeding, light, water, and so on can develop sicknesses and diseases, and some of these diseases are zoonotic. Hence, the alignment of this project with the SDG 3 - Good health and wellbeing.
Zoonotic diseases are diseases that can be transferred from animal to human. This can be curbed when the farm animals (Swine, rabbits, goats, sheep) are reared under good conditions, and are fed with concentrates when nutrient requirements are not met by their feed, and adequate drugs. Moreso, the help of a medical practitioner such as a veterinary doctor or and an animal physiologist is needed.
When all these are put to place, this means the farm animals are being raised appropriately, and this means that the rate of zoonotic diseases is reduced, and the mass lives in good health.
