Millennium Fellowship Project: Leading Climate Action

Our project "Leading climate action" is working towards Goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on micro-scale agricultural production as a tool for resilience, adaptation, and climate justice.
Through educational activities and resources (such as guides, webinars, and workshops), we are promoting the implementation of family gardens with sustainable practices to make food production a climate action in itself.
Our four main pillars are: Environmental and economic benefits of family gardens, composting, biogas, and artificial intelligence for agriculture.
In addition, we are promoting leadership and the creation of solutions to address climate change through initiatives such as our multidisciplinary study circle.

About the Millennium Fellow

Marcos Deyvis Jesus Zequera is a university student with a multidisciplinary approach; because he has academic training in areas such as architecture, administration and engineering in software development.

Likewise, he is passionate about social issues, science and technology, entrepreneurship, culture, the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants, youth participation and the development of rural communities.

He was born in 1991 in a small community called "Villa Quetzalcoatl", very close to the border between Mexico and Guatemala, for which he knows and understands the needs of various vulnerable groups.

For all of the above, he is an activist who has demonstrated his commitment to the society through collaboration in civil organizations such as AIESEC, ROTARACT or TECHO as well as in government institutions such as the Mexican Youth Institute (IMJUVE, for its acronym in Spanish) or the Institute National Institute of Social Economy (INAES, for its acronym in Spanish). He is also a social entrepreneur who is constantly promoting different initiatives such as the Usumacinta Youth and Cooperatives Network, the Support Center for Entrepreneurs "NODESS Usumacinta", the Citizen Tourist Group "El Triunfo", the Artisan Collective "Muwaan Jol", the Community Cinema Network "C'ac' Otot", the project "Aprende y Prospera LATAM" (AyP Business School, for its version in the USA), among others.
