Millennium Fellowship Project: Protect the Host: My Picture Book of Parasites

Protect The Host: Clean hands and Parasite Tales, is a joint project carried out by a group of fellows in University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. We aim at distributing illustration book containing illustrations and animated pictures showing major parasites that are infective and easily contracted from the environment and day-to-day interactions. This pocket book will be distributed among Kindergarteners and Primary school pupils in Enugu, Nigeria. We also aim to inculcate the importance of personal hygiene and proper hand washing and sanitation to these kids

The main aim of this project is to communicate in the most understandable way to children harmful and infective parasites that could harm their health, as well as basic ways they can maintain their personal hygiene to avoid getting sick or infected.

This project is specifically focused on Kindergarteners and Primary School Pupils because Safety and Hygiene is a very important topic in childcare. In situations where children have little supervision while they eat, splash in not-so-clean ponds, play in the rain, pet their animals, etc., they care less about safety and hygiene, which increases their risk of getting an infection. The "Protect The Host" graphic pocket book will teach them what causes such infections and how to avoid them.

This project is focused on Health Education and communication.
