Millennium Fellowship Project: ZERO MALARIA CAMPAIGN
Project theme: Zero Malaria Campaign.
Overview: The Zero Malaria Campaign aims to eradicate malaria by implementing a comprehensive strategy focused on prevention, treatment, and community engagement. This multifaceted initiative strives to eliminate malaria related deaths and reduce the transmission of the disease to Zero.
Objectives:
1. Community Engagement: my project aims to foster community involvement through awareness campaigns, education and community-based interventions.
I'm working towards hosting a medical outreach at Bokkos Local Government Area,Plateau State. My target audience is the rural populations, children and those vulnerable to malaria.
This medical outreach will be featuring:
- Free distribution of insecticide treated bed nets
-Free Malaria testing
-Free antimalarial drugs
-Free medication and Counselling.
The project is still ongoing as we receive contributions and still sourcing for funds to make this Highly Intensive Capital Project of maximum impact to our society.
I also created sensitization fliers talking about the introduction to malaria, epidemiology, aetiology, signs and symptoms, treatments, prevention. These fliers were shared across social media platforms as a form of medical education.
2. Partnerships and Collaboration: Forging partnerships with non-governmental organizations to enhance the reach and impact of the campaign.
3. Advocacy and Policy Influence: Advocating for policies that support malaria control, raising awareness about the importance of a malaria-free world, and secure political commitment at local, national and international levels.
The Zero malaria campaign aspiries to create a malaria free world through collaborative,evidence-based,and sustainable approach.
In line with SDG3, I also carried out an outreach which I submitted as part of my social impact tour. It was tagged"Staying Hydrated to be healthy"
Staying hydrated is indirectly related to a Zero Malaria Campaign as it can contribute to overall health and well-being,which in turn supports the body's ability to resist and recover from illnesses including malaria. Adequate hydration helps maintain proper bodily functions, supports the immune system and ensures optimal heath for individuls in malaria-endemic areas.
