Millennium Fellowship Project: EmpowerLagos

EmpowerLagos: Advancing SDGs 2, 10, and 17

EmpowerLagos is a disabilities initiative in Lagos, Nigeria, dedicated to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 (Zero Hunger), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through leadership training, mentorship, and community projects, we empower youths with disabilities to lead in fostering inclusivity, reducing disparities, and building sustainable partnerships for a more equitable and hunger-free future in Lagos State.
Measurable Goals for EmpowerLagos:

1. Zero Hunger (SDG 2): Reduce food insecurity among participating youths with disabilities by 20% through training on sustainable agriculture and nutrition.

2. Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10): Increase access to education and employment opportunities for youths with disabilities, resulting in a 15% reduction in unemployment rates within the target group.

3. Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17): Establish partnerships with at least three local disability organizations and secure funding from at least one corporate sponsor to sustain and expand the initiative.

About the Millennium Fellow

Agomo Blessing Chimuanya is a final year student of the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science, University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is passionate about promoting HIV self testing among youths in Nigeria. She intends to achieve this goal through social media marketing, online and email marketing and creating awareness to the public on the importance of HIV testing. She also intends to partner with research institutes
like Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria and various tertiary institutions across Nigeria to achieve this purpose. Through team work, inclusive leadership and empathy this project will be successful.
