Millennium Fellowship Project: Fortwall
There is an increase in the creation of Non-Governmental Organisation s in Nigeria and across the continent of Africa, and the essence of these foundations is to provide resources that can help alleviate the living conditions of Nigerians and Africa as a whole; however, this is not sustainable because looking at the numbers of foundation across Africa, and yet, the level of poverty is still on the rise; hence, the need to
empower people on how to become more innovative and create solutions to the world problems.
Inventive thinking is one of the constructs of 21st-century skills. The future workforce needs 21st-century skills in the new global economy driven by knowledge, technology and innovation. Inventive thinking comprises six elements: flexibility, self-regulation, curiosity, creativity, risk-taking and higher-order thinking.
Fort Wall Project is focused on training students who are about to leave secondary school (SS3) and first-year university students (however not limited to these target audience); these skills are accompanied by technical skills ranging from Data Analysis, Technical Writing, Product Design, Web 3.0 and so on. Most importantly, soft skills can help them become relevant and indispensable outside the four walls of their educational institution even before they leave the institution. It is helping them not just to know the skills but to build the capacity, competence and character required to
sustain the skills.
The program or training will go on for about three months, and we will wrap up with a conference with notable experts in the industry to address pressing issues about the labour market and how to become solution-oriented and not jobhunting-oriented. This will help them think beyond just getting the certificate and add value to their institution and community.
Training over 50 students in the skills highlighted above and reaching out to over 100 student through the conference, making it a total of 150 people impacted in total.
