Millennium Fellowship Project: Olive Health

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes pose a significant global health threat. These conditions are characterized by their chronic nature and are often lifestyle-related. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, can lead to heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems, while diabetes can result in heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, and amputations. The dangers of NCDs are compounded by their silent progression, often going unnoticed until severe complications arise.
Awareness and screening outreach are crucial in combating NCDs. Project Olive Health primarily targets high-risk populations, including those with a family history of NCDs, older adults, and individuals with poor lifestyle habits. Public awareness campaigns should emphasize the importance of routine health check-ups to detect NCDs early.

Project Olive Health aims to address the pressing issue of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) by implementing the following key components:
1. Blood Pressure Monitoring: Regular blood pressure screenings will be conducted to detect hypertension and raise awareness about its impact on health.
2. Blood Sugar Level Assessment: We will screen individuals for their blood sugar levels, focusing on the early detection of diabetes and the importance of blood sugar control.
3. BMI Evaluation: Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments will be carried out to help individuals understand the significance of maintaining a healthy weight and its role in preventing NCDs.
4. Raising Awareness: The project will include comprehensive awareness campaigns to educate the community about the dangers of these "silent killers" and the critical role lifestyle modifications play in prevention.
5. Lifestyle Modification Counseling: Trained professionals will provide personalized counseling sessions to residents, offering guidance on making lifestyle changes that reduce the risk of NCDs.
