Millennium Fellowship Project: CleanUni: Sanitation at the University of Maiduguri

This project was a sanitation Project at the University of Maiduguri, it was aimed at cleaning the University of Maiduguri campus.

About the Millennium Fellow

Kutemwa Sichimba is a third year student from the Copperbelt University School of medicine, Zambia; pursuing his Bachelors of science in Public Health. He is an Ambassador for the global mindset Mastery 360, Co-founder and secretary general for Zambia Public Health students' Association abbreviated as ZAPHSA, a national student body which thrives to unify all public health students in Zambia in strengthening and growing the profession. Kutemwa is the immediate former Deputy Secretary General for the Copperbelt University public and environmental health students association -CUPEHSA where he served for one academic year which is the constitutional tenure of office.

Additionally, he is the Co-founder and Vice president of HEALTHY HABITS INITIATIVES, an organization aimed at promoting the health of the people through promotion of good and healthy lifestyles focusing on SDG3. He also served as secretary general for Healthy Habits initiatives.

Additionally, Kutemwa is the RESEARCH DIRECTOR for the Public and Environmental Health Champions-PEC and a Millennium Fellowship Alumni class of 2023. He is also the Publicity Secretary for A+ Student Foundation and Programs coordinator for the CBU-SOM Mental Health Matters Movement.

Further, understanding the nobility of his profession, he is a public I121 advocate as well as a mental health activist. Aside that, he's also a public speaker. He is passionate about Epidemiology and biostatistics, the field which will enable him continue to cause social impact in his community, nation and the world at large.


Alumni Update:

After the Millennium Fellowship, Kutemwa founded the Climate Vanguards Initiative, a youth-led organization aimed at empowering communities to combat climate change through education, action, and innovation.

Through the Climate Vanguards Initiative, Kutema and his team launched several initiatives to raise awareness about environmental issues, promote sustainable practices, and engage young people in climate action. The projects include community tree planting campaigns, educational workshops on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and advocacy efforts to promote policy changes at the local and national levels.
