Millennium Fellowship Project: Mind Fix Initiative (MiFI)
Mind Fix Initiative (MiFI) is a group project championed by Millennium Fellows of the University of Uyo Class of 2023. MiFI addresses issues affecting the education system and it aims at fixing these loopholes from the roots by reaching out to teenagers in public schools, in line with SDG3, SDG4 and SDG5.
Features of the Mind Fix Initiative (MiFI) include: organisation of seminars and outreaches to public schools; reaching out and collaborating with organizations also advocating for inclusive education for all. These engagements will enlighten teenagers on life applicable topics which are not part of the traditional curriculum, but leaning more to a modern curriculum which is child and life-centered. These topics include career development, personal and professional development, and leadership incubation.
Another major focus of the project involves engaging with a cross-section of female students to enlighten them on sex education, menstrual hygiene, career pathways and excellence breaking cultural, societal, mental and self-imposed beliefs and limitations surrounding female education in this region.
We also intend to support students with gifts, school supplies and sanitary pads for female students. We are aiming to reach atleast 300 students across events.
About the Millennium Fellow
Here lies the tale of the wildcard, IKPEIDA, UNYIME WILLIAMS, falling seven times and getting up eight! Rising from the ashes like a phoenix!
Unyime is a young, unique, inspiring and purpose driven undergraduate of Business Management at the University of Uyo. He is the first child, and son in a family of five ; a native of IKONO LGA in Akwa Ibom State. As a sickly, weak, and skinny child, he grew up unable to handle pressure and failed woefully in his first attempt at tertiary education. God, family and martial arts salvaged his mental health!
