Millennium Fellowship Project: Flow Forward: Menstrual Health Education
The right to adequate health care, especially menstrual health, is a fundamental component of girl-child rights. Girls within the pubertal phase (8-18 years) who live in rural communities struggle to come to terms with the challenges associated with puberty.
The alarming concerns surrounding menstrual health are one of the major critical issues confronting adolescent girls in Nigeria.
Project Flow Forward seeks to empower young girls in the Nnewi community with the knowledge of menstrual health to overcome the psychological and physiological challenges they face at this pivotal phase of their development.
This project aims to:
-Provide comprehensive education to 50 pubertal girls in the Nnewi community about menstruation, emphasising the hormonal and anatomical changes that occur.
-Raise awareness and promote understanding regarding menstrual hygiene best practices.
-Collect data to gauge the existing level of knowledge among the girls on menstrual health.
-Challenge and dispel prevalent myths related to menstruation.
