Millennium Fellowship Project: Curbing Maternal and Neonatal Mortality
In our community Neonatal and Marternal mortality rate is on the increase and most of the time it is due to preventable or avoidable health complications resulting from inadequate knowledge and access to Medical Services.
Through the project we planned to address this issue and hoped to help reduce this rate in our community. This included the creation of awareness on the common causes of Mortality among pregnant women and neonates, common neonatal diseases, exclusive breastfeeding and antenatal care and also preventive measures emphasizing the importance of presenting early to a competent health care facility on noticing abnormal symptoms.
Furthermore we carried out free blood pressure checks and blood glucose level checks for all the participants knowing that Diabetes and Hypertension contributes to marternal mortality.
