Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Farming Project
It's about a school garden project where we identified a school in a society with needy kids and who's parents could barely afford 3 meals a day. The idea was to get a piece of land from the school, seek funding for buying seeds for planting, and ro pay for the labour, fertilisers and other necessities. The labourers would be the poor in the community, most with their kids in the school. Some of the produce would be sold while some would be used to open a feeding program so that the kids can atleast be assured of a meal a day. Some of the produce was also donated to the community.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jill Akinyi Ochieng is a student at the University of Nairobi pursuing a degree in International Studies. She is very passionate about making impact in the community and is so excited to be part of this program as it offers a platform to make the change in the community. She comes from a disadvantaged community and hopes to change lives in the community for the better, that if she is able to change the life of just one person. Then she has changed a thousand more. Jill also wishes to pursue her masters degree some day.
