Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthy Communities through Health Insurance Literacy

Health Communities through HIL is dedicated to realizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by training volunteers to be intimately familiar with how health insurance works, how to sign up for Medicaid, and how state Marketplace plans function. These trained health insurance volunteers expertly assist others who do not have health insurance literacy and thus are unaware they are eligible for Medicaid or the state Marketplace, do not know how to sign up because they do not understand how it works or face a technological barrier, and do not know how to determine what the best health insurance plan is for them.
