About the Millennium Fellow

Bhavana Akula is a social impact entrepreneur, Benjamin Franklin Scholar & PSG Public Service Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Driven by empathy and commitment to a better future, she co-founded Empathy Bridge, an international nonprofit connecting public and private partners to build comprehensive global care infrastructure.

Her journey with Empathy Bridge began after witnessing student vigils for campus suicides and providing personal support to friends battling severe mental health struggles. Motivated to tackle the global youth mental health crisis, she took a break from her studies in 2022 to dedicate her time to building stronger, integrated student support infrastructure on campuses worldwide. Through her efforts, Empathy Bridge has already made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of students worldwide.
