Millennium Fellowship Project: Workshops for Youth Development
Our project aimed to be a series of weekly virtual workshops aimed at addressing key targets and indicators within SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Through focused sessions, we discussed relevant issue areas such as continued education, skills aquisition, and health priotisation post-teenage pregnancy, as well as mental health issues, suicide prevention, and substance abuse and prevention.
Through interactive and engaging virtual workshops, we aimed to raise awareness, facilitate discussions, and provide practical tools for individuals and communities to actively contribute to achieving SDG 3. By focusing on these interconnected issues, we sought to inspire positive action, foster resilience, and contribute to building healthier and more sustainable futures, especially in terms of youth development.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jayda is a Senior year student at the University of the Western Cape, pursuing a BA degree in Political Studies, International Relations, and Philosophy, with sociology as an elective. Jayda’s passion for international relations led her to obtain a certificate in Global Diplomacy. Currently, Jayda is volunteering at the Institute of Global Dialogue (IGD), where she focuses on training in Southern Africa's International Relations and Parliamentary Diplomacy. She is also in the process of completing an internship in political science at an international independent news and bias rating agency.
Jayda's love for politics and international relations stems from her belief in the power of individuals to advocate for and create change on a global scale. Living in one of the world's second-largest diplomatic hubs, she dedicates herself to using diplomacy to help her country implement sustainable goals. After completing her undergraduate degree, Jayda intends to pursue further studies in International Relations.
