Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental health for the Deaf service delivery

My project seeks to develop a model for mental health service provision that can be applied when addressing the needs of the deaf in Zimbabwe, I look forward to building upon the knowledge I acquired during my work related learning placement at a mental health provision service provider in Zimbabwe in order for me to be able to to apply that expertise in gaining the community recognition in the mental health space. My project is currently research based as I have an appreciation for the role that research has an insuring that services that are delivered are accountable to a particular standard, and have a systematic manner in the approach.

About the Millennium Fellow

Audrey Tafadzwa Chidavaenzi is a 22-year-old young lady who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in social work at the University of Zimbabwe. Drawing from personal experiences that include battling mental health constraints to become a confident and vibrant mental health supporter, Audrey seeks to provide the deaf with resources that are specific and tailored to assist them in overcoming common mental health disorders. Despite having a speech impediment, she grew her confidence in high school through public speaking and has let her experiences motivate her to bring to light the value and importance in leaving no voice unheard.
