Millennium Fellowship Project: Youth health hub

My project is addressing the failure by young people to access Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services in safe spaces as well as the relevant sexual health information that is crucial to us. I am bringing this information to my university first and hopefully share the strategies, goals and objectives with like minded young people in other tertiary institutions across Zimbabwe. I have engaged with a few NGOs that work in the Sexual Reproductive Health and rights spheres so they can be patners in my project. I am also engaged with associations of health sciences student, of greatest importance is the Zimbabwe Pharmaceutical Students Association which i am part of. The idea behind this is to rope in as many health science students as possible as they understand the issues fairly better than most and patner with them in their activities to reach more people, get more volunteers for the project and push the agenda foward to other faculties. So i want to make sure that there is increased knowledge of what SRHR means, what it is and why it is so important to us as young people. Statistics from our school clinic put the number of HIV students at about 47% and therefore it is more than enough reason to be worried about the perceptions regarding SRHR.

About the Millennium Fellow

Munyaradzi Chisora is a pharmaceutical science student at the University of Zimbabwe. He has worked with a few NGOs in his country dealing with SRHR and HIV/AIDS programming and policing. With that experience, he is currently working towards making sure SRHR issues in Zimbabwe are addressed adequately to realise equal and unlimited access to essential health services for all young people.
