Millennium Fellowship Project: Food for Thought
This project aimed to take a in-depth examination of the exisiting food waste, recyling and composting system under Yale Hospitality, in order to dramatically reduce this. I hope to create a system linking dining halls to CommonGround’s mobile market and Fridge Haven - a community fridge initiative. At present, New Haven is a food desert due to the lack of access to fresh, nutritious, and affordable food and grocery stores and 22% of New Haven residents have described themselves as "food insecure". This project aims to further much of the work of the Yale Sustainable Food Program which is an instrumental part of Yale’s relationship with the city of New Haven.
