Millennium Fellowship Project: Medi-Sign

My project is all about making healthcare more accessible for people with disabilities in Ethiopia, specifically those with hearing impairments. Imagine being in a situation where you can't fully communicate with healthcare professionals to express your symptoms or understand their instructions. That's where my project comes in. I'm working towards bridging the gap between Ethiopian healthcare and individuals with hearing impairments by creating a series of medical sign language tutorial videos, handy booklets, and an easy-to-use application. These resources will empower individuals with hearing impairments to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, ensuring they receive the care they need without communication barriers. But this is not all! To expand awareness and reach more people, I'll also be developing a comprehensive sign language tutorial and sharing informative content on various social media platforms. And to reach maximum audience possible i am planning to utilize Yetena Weg, a prominent health platform with a wide audience where i am serving as a volunteer. Through this platform I'll be able to spread awareness and knowledge about healthcare accessibility for people with hearing impairments for a wide range of audiences.
