" Creativity, innovation, problem solving and critical thinking fueled by a diversity on perceptions or different outlooks on life. I am super excited to be a part of this fellowship because I truly believe that this is the best place for me to be if I truly want to hone my potential and become a force to be reckoned with.
I am looking forward to learn and interact with my peers and also the mentors. I am so eager to put what I've learned into action and I believe that this fellowship will equip me with all the skills necessary to carry on what I love doing, which is making the world better than I've seen it. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Wellness Collective

The Wellness Collective is a collaborative initiative led by four passionate Millennium Fellows, each focusing on a unique facet of health and wellness that addresses pressing community needs. Our collective brings together diverse yet interconnected issues, ranging from environmental/mental health and genetic disease awareness to menstrual hygiene and social anxiety support. Through a shared vision, we aim to close gaps in health education and access, empowering communities with knowledge and resources. Together, we tackle challenges to well-being across multiple sectors by educating, advocating, and engaging communities.

About the Millennium Fellow

Nafisa Bala Umar is a young and talented individual who is always soughting out ways to see how she can give back to the community. She was born and raised in Nigeria where she is currently studying a degree in Human Physiology in the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University. She hadn't always been keen to join initiatives that could help shape the world to be better, she used to believe that eventually, things will get better or someone else was going to do something about it. Until one day, she got tired of waiting around and decided to be that person, she got tired of being dependent on people's help that she decided to become independent and use her abilities to make people's lives easier. She is an avid dreamer and ever since she found the power in her voice, she has never gone silent. She aspires to use her stories to motivate, empower and enlighten people on the importance of the sustainable development goals and their potential to progressively propel the growth of the country exponentially. In her spare time, Nafisa loves reading, writing, baking, cooking, learning new things (ie tech skills, a new recipe, language etc) and deluding herself into thinking she's good at sports. One of her aims is to see the SDGs be later renamed to Sustainable Development Achievements in the nearest future with Nigeria at the forefront of that notion.
