" "Resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving drew me to the Millennium Fellowship. I'm excited about how this experience will help me enhance these skills and gain new ones while collaborating with my peers. I look forward to learning from them and learning about the challenges they aim to tackle. I'm truly grateful to be part of this cohort, knowing that it will allow me to create a meaningful social impact." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: YADAH

Yadah is an innovative app designed to empower African youth, particularly women, by providing a platform for earning money through short-term, hourly jobs. It offers a positive and accessible alternative to illegal activities, promoting financial independence through tasks like car washing, tutoring, and academic support. Many African youth face limited employment opportunities, especially those that can fit around their studies and family responsibilities. Yadah aims to bridge this gap, addressing the need for flexible, honest work that contributes to education and household needs.

About the Millennium Fellow

Desiree Emmanuella Bogui is a young, passionate, and impactful student pursuing a Bachelor of Entrepreneurial Leadership at the African Leadership University. Born in Côte d'Ivoire, she has spent most of her life there and currently lives in Kigali, Rwanda, where she continues her studies. With a background in science from high school, Desiree recognized her desire to make a lasting impact on her continent by empowering girls. After attending a S.T.E.M. camp in 2020, she co-founded Girl Up Côte d'Ivoire, marking the start of her journey. She strategically chose ALU to gain the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to make a difference. Her goal is to empower girls, particularly in S.T.E.M. fields, and she envisions continuing her career in the finance industry while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
