Millennium Fellowship Project: OrganicClimate

OrganicClimate is a transformative initiative aimed at combating climate change by addressing the often-overlooked environmental impacts of technology, digital infrastructure, and industrial waste. The project focuses on creating sustainable solutions that combine innovation, environmental restoration, and resource efficiency.
Key objectives include:
Carbon Sequestration with Biochar: Utilizing biomass to produce biochar, OrganicClimate works to lock carbon into the soil, improving fertility and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
Waste-to-Resource Innovations: Recycling industrial and domestic waste into valuable products for sectors like construction and fashion, demonstrating how circular economy principles can revolutionize waste management.
Awareness and Advocacy: Educating communities and industries about the carbon footprint of digital technologies and promoting sustainable practices that reduce their environmental impacts.
By merging science, sustainability, and social impact, OrganicClimate aims to inspire a global shift toward eco-conscious living and foster collaboration across industries to achieve a greener future.

About the Millennium Fellow

Desmond Tunyinko is a forward-thinking young man and leader at the African Leadership University majoring in Software Engineering. He was born in Ghana, where he lived most of his life until he got admission to pursue higher education in Kigali, Rwanda. Desmond has always loved adventures, though he has not got the chance to explore as much as he craves.
He is passionate about architecting climate change and agriculture solutions through tech and advocates for sustainable living. Desmond's mission is to challenge the status quo, be an exemplary leader, role model, mentor, live life with integrity, be the change, and make a change in people's lives. This has been evident throughout his life as he has always advocated for sustainable practices in his community, picked up leadership roles, and been a role model for others to follow.
Desmond wants to develop his leadership skills further and build a start-up that leverages technology to solve climate change and improve agriculture and lives. By doing this, he addresses Climate Action and Zero Hunger as part of the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals.
