" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides an incredible opportunity to elevate my mission of improving tourism and creating jobs in my community. The fellowship offers a collaborative space to connect with like-minded changemakers and grow through shared learning experiences. I do this work because I believe tourism, when thoughtfully integrated with conservation efforts, has the power to revitalize communities and offer sustainable opportunities for economic growth. Through this fellowship, I aim to refine my skills, expand my impact, and contribute to a future where innovation and sustainability drive positive change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: TouriVive

I selected this learning opportunity for my final project because it directly aligns with my conservation mission of improving ecotourism in Cross River State through sustainable practices. My internship at Huru Initiatives provided valuable experience in water sustainability, strategic communication, and community engagement, which are essential to addressing the environmental and social challenges in my region.
The hands-on experience at Huru Initiatives taught me how to design communication strategies, engage stakeholders, and implement sustainable water management practices. These skills are crucial in promoting the conservation of freshwater resources in Cross River State, which are vital for both biodiversity and tourism.
By integrating these insights into my project, I aim to develop practical solutions that not only address conservation challenges but also promote the state's ecotourism potential. This approach will contribute to sustainable tourism, community empowerment, and long-term environmental preservation in Cross River State.
