" As an Engineer, problem solving and critical thinking is what fuels how my mind works.Being a member of the Millennium Fellowship will help me sharpen these skills especially in terms of how one approaches a problem faced with, ways of evaluating the best solutions and end results. My work basically is to help those hurt and require first aid with the help of the ST John Ambulance organisation.Being exposed to ST John showed me the importance of human health and the responsibilities of helping people with first aids. Being able to see that I can help take away at least some, not all, pain when someone is hurt really warmed my heart and it's what pushes me to do this work. "

About the Millennium Fellow

Kenneth Chirchir is a young bright and overall competitive Software Engineer student at the African Leadership University in Rwanda. I was born in Kenya but currently I reside in Rwanda. When I was young, I used to love playing around with computers and drawing. As time went by, my imagination grew and so did my skills for designing clothes. I noticed I had a thing for fashion and built upon that in terms of sketching cloth designs from scratch. That is what I use to do on my fee time. In high school I got an opportunity of learning in depth about computers and also a member of the ST John Ambulance. Being exposed to ST John showed me the importance of human health and the responsibilities of helping people with first aids. Here is where my devotion for helping the society came in. Being able to see that I can help take away at least some, not all, pain when someone is hurt really warmed my heart. Being interested in helping people in need has driven me to be more engaging with community building activities and charity organizations. I aspire to be software engineer who uses his problem-solving skills in the tech world to create better health systems for society.
