Millennium Fellowship Project: A Million Smiles Kenya

A Million Smiles Kenya is a project dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The initiative seeks to create a positive impact by fostering inclusivity, providing essential resources, and organizing activities that promote empowerment and joy.
One notable visit was to SCOM Children’s Home, a facility that cares for children with disabilities. During this visit, the project team engaged in activities such as painting, guidance and counseling, games, and sharing a meal with the children.
Future plans include hosting more sessions with added activities like a modeling competition to crown Mr. and Mrs. Disability SCOM, aiming to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the participants while celebrating their individuality and talents.
The overarching goal of A Million Smiles Kenya is to bring smiles to children with disabilities by enhancing their quality of life and advocating for their rights and needs in society.

About the Millennium Fellow

Agnes Muthoni Muturi is a lady who champions for the rights of women especially when it comes to gender equality. Growing up, she was quite vocal in trying to "figure" out how the world works by constantly being inquisitive on questions like, "who really owns the world?" or better yet, "whom does marriage suit?" These coupled up with many others alike, she always knew that she wanted to be a change maker and an advocate to human rights hence the pursuit of her first degree in B.A Social Sciences in Political Science with Public Administration. This new chance in her current pursuit in Bsc. Community Health Practice from a fine institution as Amref International University, will break down barriers that exist in understanding how the community can work with better systems and regulations in place.
