" I am eager to join the Millennium Fellowship because it has been empowering others to meet the SDG goals because, as a nursing student and advocate for youth empowerment and gender and reproductive health, I believe that by working together and sharing our knowledge, we can create sustainable solutions that transform communities and improve lives. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: A Million Smiles Kenya
A Million Smiles Kenya is a project dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The initiative seeks to create a positive impact by fostering inclusivity, providing essential resources, and organizing activities that promote empowerment and joy.
One notable visit was to SCOM Children’s Home, a facility that cares for children with disabilities. During this visit, the project team engaged in activities such as painting, guidance and counseling, games, and sharing a meal with the children.
Future plans include hosting more sessions with added activities like a modeling competition to crown Mr. and Mrs. Disability SCOM, aiming to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the participants while celebrating their individuality and talents.
The overarching goal of A Million Smiles Kenya is to bring smiles to children with disabilities by enhancing their quality of life and advocating for their rights and needs in society.
