" The possibility to make real change is incredibly exhilarating. Getting to work with like minded people is a great privilege to learn what it takes to actually get to change people's lives and bring dreams to reality "

Millennium Fellowship Project: A Million Smiles Kenya

A Million Smiles Kenya is a project dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The initiative seeks to create a positive impact by fostering inclusivity, providing essential resources, and organizing activities that promote empowerment and joy.
One notable visit was to SCOM Children’s Home, a facility that cares for children with disabilities. During this visit, the project team engaged in activities such as painting, guidance and counseling, games, and sharing a meal with the children.
Future plans include hosting more sessions with added activities like a modeling competition to crown Mr. and Mrs. Disability SCOM, aiming to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the participants while celebrating their individuality and talents.
The overarching goal of A Million Smiles Kenya is to bring smiles to children with disabilities by enhancing their quality of life and advocating for their rights and needs in society.

About the Millennium Fellow

Joy Sandra Muthoni is a brilliant young lady in her 3rd year of nursing school . She's always been passionate about getting people to live a quality life. From a very young age she would accompany her mother to meetings where she worked on educate a girl program with the jesuits . This planted a seed in her getting to spend holidays and weekends in children's homes, interacting with the children and realising they're no different from her. This later translated to a passion for sexual education among teenagers to reduce teen pregnancy, bring awareness to sexually transmitted diseases and cervical cancer
