" I am driven by a passion for primary health care and a commitment to equitable health solutions for all, especially for youths, women, and marginalized communities. Joining the Millennium Fellowship excites me because it will amplify my ability to address these issues collaboratively and align my efforts with the UNAI principles and SDGs. Through this experience, I look forward to refining my advocacy skills and making a more significant impact on health-related matters, climate change, and social equity. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: A Million Smiles Kenya
A Million Smiles Kenya is a project dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The initiative seeks to create a positive impact by fostering inclusivity, providing essential resources, and organizing activities that promote empowerment and joy.
One notable visit was to SCOM Children’s Home, a facility that cares for children with disabilities. During this visit, the project team engaged in activities such as painting, guidance and counseling, games, and sharing a meal with the children.
Future plans include hosting more sessions with added activities like a modeling competition to crown Mr. and Mrs. Disability SCOM, aiming to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the participants while celebrating their individuality and talents.
The overarching goal of A Million Smiles Kenya is to bring smiles to children with disabilities by enhancing their quality of life and advocating for their rights and needs in society.
