" "When women are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous.” -Michelle Obama
Women contribute so much to our society and therefore addressing all the issues they face is mandatory.
With that in mind, being in the Millennium Fellowship is a great opportunity to reach as many girls as possible as well as grow my leadership skills. " "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SAFE GIRLS
Safe Girls is a project aimed at providing a safe space for girls to express themselves on the issues they are facing and have the issues addressed. Girls, especially in vulnerable communities, face numerous challenges in the pursuit of their dreams such as early marriages, sexual abuse, and lack of necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing among others. Safe Girls provides an opportunity for all these challenges and others to not only be heard but also addressed.
About the Millennium Fellow
Serah Wacu Ng'ang'a is an ambitious, selfless Young lady currently studying Law at Africa Nazarene University in Kenya. She is very passionate about the well-being of young girls in all aspects of their lives, starting with their physical, mental, social, and emotional health.
She was raised in a small town called Kikuyu in Kenya, where she saw young women fail to complete their studies and progress in life because of many barriers, such as lack of finances, early marriages, period poverty, and hunger, just to mention a few.
It is the exposure to this reality that fueled her passion to educate and encourage young ladies to fight regardless of the many challenges that come their way.
Being a leader almost all her life has given her a platform to talk and encourage young ladies to pursue their dreams and she is willing to keep supporting girls around her because any society with educated women thrives.
