Millennium Fellowship Project: Mindful compus
The Mindful Campus project focuses on fostering mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and creating a supportive environment for students. Recognizing the importance of mental well-being in academic and personal success, the initiative promotes mindfulness practices and provides accessible resources to address mental health challenges on campus.
Key components of the project include:
Workshops and Training: Organizing in-person workshops on mental health awareness, coping strategies, and mindfulness techniques to empower students with practical tools for managing stress and emotional well-being.
Peer Support Groups: Facilitating weekly peer-led support groups where students can share their experiences, learn from each other, and receive emotional support in a safe and non-judgmental space.
Collaborations with Partner Campuses: Conducting online meetings with students and faculty from partner campuses, including those in Kabul and Tehran, to exchange insights and share best practices for mental health advocacy.
Yoga and Mindfulness Programs: Encouraging student participation in weekly yoga sessions and mindfulness activities to promote relaxation, focus, and resilience.
Reducing Stigma: Engaging in campus-wide campaigns to normalize conversations about mental health and break down the stigma associated with seeking help.
About the Millennium Fellow
Fatama Hasani is an outstanding student at the Asian University for Women. She was born in Dykundi province, Afghanistan, where women and girls faced severe deprivation and were denied education. Despite these challenges, she fought to attend Kabul University, only to have her studies halted by the Taliban's ban on women's education. Fatama didn't give up; she advocated for women's rights in Dykundi, helping girls access education and convincing families to support their daughters. Her determination led her to secure a scholarship at the Asian University for Women, where she now thrives as a talented student.
