" Being a Millennium Fellow will provide me a great opportunity to join change makers of the community. I am thrilled to use this platform to learn new things, foster meaningful connection and contribute to give better shape to the new world, by connecting (sharing experiences and solutions) to people from the backward regions of other countries. Happy to implement positive things to my project after learning from the Millennium Fellowship. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Learning Centre-Panchayat Library
The Community Learning Centre and Panchayat Library are ongoing projects under the Community Engagement Initiative of Azim Premji University. In CLC, we teach the children of our support & security staff and the migrant workers in our community with their academics. With the CLC, we are trying to maximize the use of the university resources while engaging the students in out-of-school learning through various activities. In the Panchayat Library, we visit the Panchayat Libraries in our neighborhood villages, engage the children of the neighborhood in fun activities, and help them with their academics, such as Maths and English. Recognizing that most children in the villages study in Kannada medium, we have interactive activities to expose them more to English, making them more comfortable with learning the language. Now, we are exploring the inclusion of art activities to understand and encourage the children’s interests, creativity and self-expression.
