" I've always wanted to leverage my writing skills to advocate for a cause I stand for, and this project stands at the exact crux. I'm very excited to tackle challenges that come my way and create a community of people who try to find answers to questions related to sustainability. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Minimal Waste Project

The Minimal Waste Project aims to reduce food waste and plastic usage on campus. For the first part, we'll record the average plates of food wasted per day while also making observations about the causes of such waste. For the second part, we'll track the plastic usage in our personal lives and reduce it wherever possible. The aim is simple - to understand how the plastic industry has influenced our daily workings, and how much waste a single person can cut down on. At the end of it all, we plan to write a blog to spread awareness among people of the ways in which they can individually contribute to reducing food waste as well as plastic waste.

About the Millennium Fellow

Trishaa Manda is a second-year student pursuing environmental science and sustainability. She is passionate about understanding sustainability in its multiple forms, from agriculture to transit. Her project focuses on individual action, as she tries to understand how a college student can be a conscious consumer. She aims to simplify and break the nuances of people's assumptions about sustainability and make it more accessible for people.
