" Passion for a better future for girls and women has always been something I've had even from a tender age. Recognizing social injustices in my immediate community particularly against women and girls, and the need to facilitate a world where that demographic of the population is adequately prioritized and protected have been goals I have worked towards from secondary school to University level. I believe the Millennium Fellowship would offer me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and network as well as develop my personal skills towards achieving these goals of mine and by extension, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Uplift Her

Uplift Her would be a project that aims to focus girls and women and would cut across education and health for women as a way of empowering and uplifting these individuals. I plan to run online campaigns on days pertaining to girls and women (for example, the international day of the girl child), as well as physical programs designed to focus on girls and women. Though still an idea, the vision I have for Uplift Her is that the lives of girls and women are changed positively and women are empowered in terms of education and health. I want to do this because there are so many women who lack the knowledge they need to propel themselves to a better life. Education is important to me because I do believe that literacy is an important tool in the fight for women's equality. For the health aspect, as a medical student, I have seen diseases that women are at significant risk of these diseases such as breast cancer, and cervical cancer, and wish to be part of the voices raising awareness and hopefully, having outreach programs for women in the communities around me and help however way I can.
