Millennium Fellowship Project: Nutrition Education For Children

The Project was aimed at educating 300 school children in rural areas about the importance of breakfast. Over 5.4 million children in Nigeria are at risk of acute malnutrition as of 2024, an increase from 4.4 million earlier this year. Without urgent intervention, this number could rise significantly by 2025. Severe acute malnutrition rates in some areas of northern Nigeria are as high as 14.4%, a level considered catastrophic. This drove my passion to educate children about nutrition and dwelling on the importance of breakfast. It is of no news that many school children don't eat breakfast and this has a huge impact in their academic performance. I did not stop at educating the children in a fun way through songs and rhymes but gave them a breakfast cereal which was sponsored by the Nestle Food Company and 4 other sponsors who supported this project with their resources. This project is tailored to solve the SDG 2 and 3.
