Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowerment Of The Community

We, a group of passionate millennial allies - Minna, Maria, Maria Iftikhar, Aashir, Eman and Aisha - embarked on a mission to promote basic hygiene practices among the children of Edhi Foundation, an orphanage. Our mission in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (good health and well-being) was to educate these young minds and give them important hygiene habits.
Our team collected donations from generous individuals and organization (Karsaziyan welfare Association), which enabled us to purchase essential hygiene items such as. - Brushing teeth
- Brushing your teeth
- with fingers
- a nail polish
- Hand sanitizer
- Good fun for kids (coloring stickers, colored pencils, candy, coloring books)
On Wednesday evening, we arrived at Edhi Foundation eager to share our knowledge and gifts. We were taken in by the warm smiles and curious eyes of the children. We started by introducing ourselves, explaining the importance of hygiene in maintaining good health.
Our meeting covered the following:
1. Brushing your teeth: Demonstrate proper techniques and insist on brushing twice a day.
2. Hand Hygiene: Teaches the use of hand sanitizer and proper hand washing.
3. Nail Care: Demonstrates how to cut nails safely and cleanly.
4. Personal Hygiene: After discussing the importance of regular bathing and wearing clean clothes.. As we started giving items to the children one by one, our team taught them how to clean and prevent diseases prevention. We started by washing our hands, using sanitizer as a demonstration. The kids learned each step with us, and then we taught them how to brush their teeth and gave them each a toothbrush and toothbrush.
