Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowering Women through Menstrual Hygiene
This project aims to address the critical issue of menstrual hygiene among women from underprivileged communities by providing them with access to sanitary pads. Menstrual health is often overlooked, especially in marginalized communities where access to basic hygiene products is limited. This not only affects the health of women but also their dignity, education, and participation in society.
To tackle this issue, we plan to raise funds through a dedicated fundraising campaign at Bahria University. These funds will be used to purchase sanitary pads that will be distributed to women in need. Alongside the distribution, educational workshops will be organized to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, breaking taboos, and ensuring that women feel empowered to manage their health safely and confidently.
This initiative directly aligns with *Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality)*, as menstrual hygiene is an essential factor in achieving gender equality. Lack of access to menstrual hygiene products can lead to school absenteeism, health issues, and social stigma, which disproportionately affects women and girls. By providing access to sanitary products and education, we aim to empower women and contribute to their overall well-being, reducing gender disparities and ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to thrive in society. Through this project, we will not only improve the menstrual health of women but also foster a more supportive and equitable environment where women can exercise their right to health, education, and dignity.
