Millennium Fellowship Project: Speak Clean
This project was initiated to address the critical issue of water contamination in vulnerable regions of Pakistan, focusing on raising awareness and promoting actionable solutions. Through the platform of Model United Nations (MUN) sessions, organized under the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA), the initiative engaged students and stakeholders in meaningful dialogue about the health implications of water scarcity and contamination. The sessions were conducted on the 22nd and 23rd of October and involved passionate debates, knowledge-sharing, and resolution-building, emphasizing the need for clean water in marginalized communities. Delegates discussed global and local statistics on waterborne diseases, explored challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and governmental inaction, and proposed sustainable strategies for improving water accessibility and safety. The discussions culminated in actionable resolutions and a fundraising campaign, successfully gathering 50,000 PKR. These funds were donated to the Alkhidmat Water Project in Sindh, Tharpal, supporting the installation of filtration systems, distribution of clean drinking water, and community awareness programs. This project demonstrated the transformative power of collaboration, empowering participants to bridge the gap between advocacy and tangible impact. It underscored the significance of youth-led initiatives in addressing global challenges and fostering a collective commitment to making clean water a universal right.
